                                                        Artist Lantern Building 2017—
For the weekend of November 11 and 12, we hosted a more intensive two-day workshop for artists, as well as non-artists who were willing to become artists for a weekend! These brave souls were willing to experiment with more challenging mediums, and everybody was amazed at what they were able to build.

We worked with willow and bamboo to frame these larger and more complex shapes.  The lantern sculptural shapes were finished by applying large paper coffee filters supplied by Green Mountain Coffee. The filters were soaked in a white glue solution and applied to the willow and bamboo structures. Building on the theme: Ripples and Rhythms: Waves of Sound and Light, participants took off in many directions. All lanterns will be lit from the interior, and these large artistic sculptural pieces will be the highlights of the parade.
